Top 10 Most Summerslam Appearances

In anticipation for the biggest party of the summer… Summerslam 2020. We take a look at the wrestlers who have appeared the most at this prestigious event.

1. The Undertaker 16 appearances
The long standing constant of WWE, The Undertaker has made the most appearances at the summer event. Undertaker has had title matches against Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart in 97 and 98, faced rival Brock Lesnar In 2012, A Classic Hell in a Cell match against Edge and even facing himself in 1994.

2. John Cena 14 appearances
John Cena has made 14 appearances along with Randy Orton. Two of those appearances have come against each other. Cena has also squared off against CM Punk twice. He would drop the championship to Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan and the United States Championship to Seth Rollins.

3. Randy Orton 14 appearances
Randy Orton, tied with Cena on appearances but will break that and move into second this year with his appearance against Drew McIntyre. Orton has had marquee matches against Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan and John Cena twice. The Viper became the youngest WWE World Champion in history at Summerslam 04 and won it again in 2011 against Christian.

4. Edge 13 appearances
Edge would have been looking to add another match to his Summerslam record after his sensational return earlier this year. Unfortunately injury has hampered his comeback and will miss the show. Edge appeared in matches along with Christian earlier in his career including the first TLC match. Edge has defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE Championship at the event.

5. Triple H 13 appearances
The heir to the WWE throne has had some great matches in the Summerslam history. From his Steel Cage match with Mankind and Ladder match with The Rock. Triple H faced Shawn Michaels in HBK return match and later on reformed DX in a match against McMahons. Triple H would also defend the World Heavyweight Championship in a Elimination Chamber.

6. Bret Hart 11 appearances
The next four wrestlers all have 11 appearances and Bret Hart has the most of his in the 90s. A great cage match with his brother is a classic Summerslam Match and regarding by many as one of the greatest cage matches ever. Bret Hart was in a heated WWE Championship match against The Undertaker in 97. His last match was part of team WWE against the Nexus.

7. Chris Jericho 11 appearances
Chris Jericho has faced Ric Flair at Summerslam, lost to John Cena in a WWE Championship Match and defeated Dolph Ziggler in a great match in 2012. His last appearance was teaming with Kevin Owens against Enzo Amore and Big Cass.

8. Kane 11 appearances
Kane first made his Summerslam appearance in 98 and for three straight years his matches at the event were either against The Undertaker or teaming with him. He faced Bray Wyatt in a ring of fire match in 2013 and lost to Daniel Bryan in 2012.

9. Shawn Michaels 11 appearances Shawn Michaels has been in some of the biggest matches in Summerslam history. From facing Vader in 96, Triple H is his return match in 02, facing Hulk Hogan and reforming DX with Triple H to face the McMahons and Legacy.

10. Brock Lesnar 10 appearances All of Brock Lesnar appearances have been in high profile matches. His first match at the event he won the WWE Championship beating The Rock. He has since beaten CM Punk, Triple H, John Cena and Randy Orton at the event. He has also put over Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins as the companies new top baby faces.

In some honourable mentions of most appearances in Summerslam are Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss on 4 appearances as the most by a women’s superstar. Hulk Hogan holds a 6-0 record at the event whilst Ultimate Warrior holds a 5-0 record. Booker T has 5 appearances but unfortunately has never won a match at the event.
