This Sunday WWE presents Extreme Rules: The Horror Show live on the WWE Network from the Performance Centre in Florida, This years Extreme Rules will feature some cinematic matches. we look at each match and predict the outcome and what happens next. Last time at Backlash we predicted that Nikki Cross would become Bayley next challenger.
Asuka has been the star on Raw since the pandemic and has really shined on Raw with no crowd. This topped off with her becoming the champion and finally earning a win over Charlotte Flair. Bayley and Sasha Banks continue to control over all three brands and look to gain all the gold this evening. The match should be a awesome match and we will see Bayley and Kairi Sane involved. Part of me believes we will see Sane turn on Asuka and cost her the championship so Bayley and Banks will have all the gold. This could lead to Asuka vs Sane at Summerslam in Sane last match as she is rumoured to be leaving WWE. But I just can’t see WWE putting all the gold on two women which is a shame as it would be entertaining. Think Asuka will get the upper hand with Bayley interference and retain.
Winner and Still WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Asuka
This match will happen before the Raw Women’s Championship Match. Bayley will retain the championship with the help from Banks to continue the story of Banks always helping Bayley. This match will ultimately set up the other women’s match on this show.
Winner and Still WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion: Bayley
Drew McIntyre has been made to look Unstoppable as of late and Ziggler won’t be the one to stop him here. Dolph will bump around for McIntyre making him look great but it will be McIntyre that leaves champion to head to Summerslam where rumour is he will face Randy Orton.
Winner and Still WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre
Wyatt had been off television lately but is back as his old persona, the leader of the Wyatt Family and eater of worlds. Braun Strowman seems to be on course for a match against The Fiend at Summerslam. Considering this is a Non Title Swap Match I see Wyatt winning here to further the feud. But when I mention winning, I’m not sure how you actually win a swap match.
The match itself will be shot cinematicly you would suggest and after the success of the Wrestlemania matches you knew WWE wouldn’t be able to restrain themselves with this type of match. Now we have them every month and they seem to be getting worse. I don’t hold much hope for this one either.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
This feud started with MVP offering his services to Crews to be part of his stable. MVP continues to recruit but unsuccessfully apart from Bobby Lashley. I see Crews winning here as nobody wants to see MVP with the belt surely. I do wish that they would keep MVP out of matches and out of physical altercations if he is to play a manager role. Would like to see a build up to where a face finally gets his hands on MVP and when he does it actually means something.
Winner and still WWE United States Champion: Apollo Crews.
This feud all started when Rollins rammed Mysterio Eye into the ring steps. Rollins has said that Mysterio is a sacrifice which has brought in his son Dominick to attack Rollins. Rollins and his disciples Austin Theory and Murphy have been battling Mysterio, Dominik, Aleister Black and Kevin Owens. I can see all getting involved one way or another thanks to the new stipulation of an Eye for an Eye match.
The only way to win a Eye for an Eye Match is to rip out the eye out of your opponent. With no idea on what we will actually see I’m going to go for a Rey Mysterio win to gain revenge.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
This match was added on SmackDown but the match has been building for the last few weeks. The match will be highly entertaining with some great spots. I don’t think they will pull the trigger on Cesaro and Nakamura as champions and the New Day will emerge victorious.
Winners and Still WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions: New Day
Whilst this event on paper seems missable, it will be interesting how they produce their matches and hopefully the standard will be better than the last couple. Unfortunately WWE have done too many cinematic matches in a short space of time. I can only assume it’s going to another poor showing of cinematic matches.
